is the collaborative partnership between OnRamp, LA Freewaves, and Visual Communications, committed to building an effective training program and a diverse network of information and creativity among Los Angeles arts communities.
Open Studio/L.A. ventured it's first collaborative year in 1999 with an ambitious six month long program including:
-Free and mobile workshops at many local art venues throughout LA. Intro to the Internet, Intro to Web Design and Web Design for Visual Artists/Performers/Writers/Videomakers. (open to the public, free)
-10 week intensive workshops for selected participants, featuring: planning and design, resources, examples, hands-on classes, advanced media workshops.
-10 weeks of additional lab time with technical support for participants.
-28 participants are provided a free Web Site on the Visual Communications server, along with an email account for one full year.
-10 week series of lectures by local artists and activists is held to foster community dialog and inspiration for creative online projects. (open to the public, free)
